Job Description

We’re looking for a visionary and detail-oriented Art Director to lead the artistic development of our upcoming Collectible Card Game for mobile and PC platforms. You will be responsible for crafting and maintaining the game's unique visual identity, ensuring consistency across all visual elements—from cards and environments to UI/UX and promotional art. You’ll manage external artists, coordinate with internal teams, and own the overall art pipeline to ensure the highest level of quality and style cohesion. You will also lead the approvals process with outside IP license holders, overseeing timing, comments and compliance related to approvals.

 

  Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the game’s visual direction, including style guides, mood boards, and reference materials.
  • Oversee all art-related aspects of the game, including card illustrations, UI/UX, animations, VFX, and marketing assets.
  • Manage a network of freelance and outsourcing artists—assigning work, reviewing submissions, and providing clear feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers, product managers, and engineers to ensure visuals support gameplay clarity and user experience.
  • Establish and maintain multi-partner art pipelines, schedules, and review processes to keep production efficient and on time.
  • Ensure consistent thematic tone and quality control across all visual assets.
  • Champion the creative vision of the game while being responsive to technical limitations, production timelines, and gameplay needs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in game art production, with at least 2 years in an Art Director or Lead Artist role.
  • Understanding of CCG visual trends and genre expectations, both mobile and PC.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing ability to direct fantasy/sci-fi card illustrations and interface design.
  • Experience managing external vendors or freelance artists.
  • Expertise with industry-standard tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, etc.).
  • Knowledge of IP management, branding, or narrative art direction.
  • Passion for games—especially collectible card games and fantasy/sci-fi worlds.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Unity
  • Background in animation or VFX direction.
  • Familiarity with agile development environments.
