Position Summary:

Based in Covington, GA, the Maintenance Supervisor will perform essential, pertinent job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the General Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Establish and maintain a robust preventative maintenance program.
  • Establish and manage a spare parts inventory/program.
  • Responsible for systematic and timely maintenance throughout the plant.
  • Responsible for maintaining facilities, grounds, and plant equipment, including preventative maintenance and new equipment installation.
  • Responsible for maintaining available equipment uptime.
  • Responsible for facilitating instrument calibration and temperature surveys.
  • Supervises and directs all maintenance department employees, including employee relations matters and reviews.
  • Promotes and practices safety and good housekeeping procedures.
  • Must work in a manner consistent with the EMS.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
  • Must have the ability to report for work on time; follow directions; interact effectively with co-workers; understand and follow rules and procedures; and accept constructive criticism.
  • May have access to compensation information of other employees or applicants in this role, and as such, cannot disclose the pay of other employees or applicants to other individuals.
  • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customers’ inventory and, as such, will perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage.

  • Education – College or technical degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred; high school or equivalent plus 5 years industrial maintenance supervisory experience required.
  • Must have advanced training in electrical troubleshooting with 5 plus years of extensive electrical controls and PLC installations and repair experience. Previous heat-treat and other metal-working industry experience preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience with combustion systems, batch furnaces, and vacuum furnaces is a plus.
  • Must demonstrate proven success in hiring and developing maintenance technicians and managing across multiple shifts.
  • Must have hands-on experience with welding, cutting, brazing, etc.
  • Must have general knowledge of hydraulics and furnaces and be able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification.
  • May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends, and be on call as needed.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and databases, is required.

  • Must be able to work in an industrial environment at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to move/lift up to 50 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
