Job Description

Description We are searching for a candidate to fill the position of Cape Elizabeth High School Principal. This candidate must be a longitudinal thinker who is committed to using the strengths of faculty and staff to move our top performing school to higher levels, and must be willing to support and lead the school in reaching the goals of the Cape Elizabeth School Department Strategic Plan.

  • Encourage and affirm students who are thinking about or pursuing different pathways;
  • Appreciate the balance between what is already working well and new ideas and practices;
  • Be able to select and prioritize initiatives, goals, and targets based on the specific strengths and needs of the high school in consultation with faculty, staff, and students;
  • Support and advocate for students, faculty, and staff;
  • Strengthen a culture of shared leadership at the high school by consulting with and utilizing the expertise of faculty and staff in planning and decision-making;
  • Work to determine what is in the best interest of the school after listening to all faculty and staff;
  • Understand and respect a strong positive school culture that works well;
  • Be committed to supporting and furthering the work of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force;
  • Have a vision for growing and strengthening technology education in the high school;
  • Be knowledgeable in school law and areas such as 504 and Special Education;
  • Be an excellent communicator, both in writing and speaking;
  • Possess a sense of humor and be a positive thinker;
  • Demonstrate confidence as well as humility;
  • Use kindness in addressing problems in a humanitarian manner;
  • Be willing to listen, ask questions, be open to suggestions, and admit mistakes;
  • Have experience teaching at the high school level;
  • Be committed to living in Maine, but also have a range of experiences.
Salary: Salary and benefits based on current Administrator's Collective Bargaining Agreement .
