HR Generalist

Renewal by Andersen of Wyoming, Montana and Rapid City is currently hiring for the position of Human Resources (HR) Generalist within our HR Department. Renewal by Andersen is a white glove, Full-Service custom Window & Patio Door Replacement Division of Andersen Corporation, which has been manufacturing innovative premier quality windows and doors for over 115 years.

This role is suited for an experienced HR professional.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Under general supervision of the HR Director, the HR Generalist will support the Human Resources Department by performing general HR duties such as handling benefit enrollments, reviewing bi-weekly payroll, related benefits, and tax liabilities for approximately 170 employees. This position will also be responsible for assisting with insurance audits, managing sensitive employee data, and developing paperwork to support Federal and State regulatory reporting.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

Minimum Education / Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources.
  • 3+ years of HR experience in a mid-sized company (100+ Ee) required.
  • Familiarity with HRIS, Payroll, Time-Keeping platforms (Intuit, ADP, Paycom, UKG, Kronos).
  • Familiarity with Spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Advanced Degree in Human Resources or General Business.
  • 5+ years of HR experience in a mid-sized company (100+ Ee).
  • One (or more) of the following certifications: SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), Associate Professional in Human Resources (aPHR), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
  • Experience using QuickBooks.
  • Experience with software implementations.
  • Construction industry experience.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Lead annual benefit open enrollments & required census, manage changes to employee elections, and communicate changes to Payroll Specialist.
  • Manage Unemployment Insurance claims and liaise with various State agencies.
  • Liaise with 401(k) plan administrator.
  • Review bi-weekly payroll for approximately 170+ employees using QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Prepare, file, and remit payments (as required) in connection with Federal regulatory reporting Form 940 (annual) and Form 941 (quarterly).
  • Prepare, file, and remit true-up payments (as required) in connection with State withholdings (MT, WY, SD, WA, CO, MI).
  • Answer employee inquiries regarding company policy handbook.
  • Lead annual W-2/W-3 process.
  • Lead annual 1095/1094 process.
  • Lead employee training and development initiatives.
  • Assist with annual general liability and workers compensation insurance audits.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes while focusing on safety and best practices.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of Federal (FLSA, FMLA) and State labor laws (MT/WY/SD).
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll taxes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Workers Compensation, Unemployment Insurance, and benefits such as 401(k) plans, health insurance, paid time off (PTO).
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to represent the interests of the company during employee relations meetings.
  • Self-driven and motivated.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, spreadsheets and software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google Suites.
  • Reliable with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
