Sr. Instructional Designer/Training Developer

Location: Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite in either McLean, VA or Richmond, VA

Pay Rate: $50/hour

Contract Role- ASAP THROUGH MID DEC 2025

đź§  About the Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled Instructional Designer to join a learning and development team supporting a variety of internal business units. This role offers a dynamic mix of maintaining existing content and creating brand-new learning experiences, both digital and instructor-led, in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs).

The work spans across multiple departments—from tech and operations to customer-facing teams—and focuses on both technical and soft skill development.

đź”§ Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain digital learning experiences and instructor-led training (ILT)
  • Conduct gap analyses and recommend appropriate learning strategies and modalities
  • Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to create effective, engaging training materials
  • Support lines of business including retail, operations, and tech with scalable training solutions
  • Apply adult learning theory, learning science, and evaluation best practices to optimize content
  • Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with a diverse range of internal stakeholders

đź’» Must-Have Technical Skills

  • 3+ years of eLearning design and development experience
  • Proficiency in Articulate 360 (including Storyline and Rise) – required
  • Experience with Camtasia , TechSmith Snagit
  • Video production and basic graphic animation experience
  • Ability to design assessment tools, learning metrics, and observation strategies
  • Strong understanding of instructional systems design (ISD) and adult learning principles
